Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide, commonly abbreviated as VIP, is a synthetic 28-amino-acid research peptide corresponding to the biologically active human neuropeptide. It belongs to the secretin–glucagon peptide family and is investigated in controlled laboratory models involving peptide-receptor binding and cellular signaling.
Experimental research may examine VIP interactions with VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors, cyclic-AMP-associated pathways, receptor selectivity and signaling in neurological, gastrointestinal and immune-cell models.
